Moving to Australia with Pets: Your Questions Answered (Part 3)

Question: What happens to our pets when the plane touches down in Australia?

They go through the clearance and document check process with the Biosecurity officers and are then taken into quarantine.

Question: How long is the quarantine period in Australia?

You have two quarantine options. If you go through the South African State Vet Microchip Verification Process (before the RNATT blood draw), pets stay in quarantine for 10 days.
Otherwise, pets must spend 30 days in quarantine.

Question: How many quarantine stations are there in Australia?

Mickleham in Victoria is the only quarantine station in Australia. As you can imagine, there’s a long waiting list.

Question: What's the quarantine facility like?

It’s a multi-billion-dollar, state-of-the-art facility, with loads of space for play time, and lovely indoor bedrooms for night-time snuggles. It’s also impeccably clean and professionally run.
