Here's a simple, nutritious homemade chicken & veggie soup recipe for your dogs - a great way to keep them warm and nourished during the colder months!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup diced sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup diced green beans
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced butternut squash
  • 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken (plain, boneless, skinless)
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Sauté the veggies:
In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the carrots, celery, and green beans. Sauté for about 5 minutes until slightly softened.

  2. Add remaining vegetables:
Stir in the sweet potatoes and butternut squash. Cook for another 2–3 minutes.

  3. Add liquids:
Pour in the chicken broth and water. Bring to a gentle boil.

  4. Simmer:
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20–25 minutes, or until all vegetables are tender.

  5. Add chicken:
Stir in the shredded chicken and cook for another 5 minutes to warm through.

  6. Cool before serving:
Let the soup cool completely before serving it to your dog. You can store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze in portions.

Tips:

  • Always serve at room temperature.
  • Avoid adding salt, onions, garlic, or any seasoning—these can be harmful to dogs.
  • You can blend the soup slightly for smaller dogs or those with chewing difficulties.

Enjoy cooking this wonderful winter warmer recipe for your dogs! 🐾
